In just a few steps to the complete application dossier

A complete application dossier contains the following documents

  • letter of application
  • CV with photo
  • Copies of job references
  • Copies of diplomas and professional certificates
  • reference list

letter of application

The letter of application refers to the advertised position. Mention why you are particularly well suited for the upcoming tasks, what your motivation is and what strengths you can bring to the company. The application letter builds the bridge between your previous career and the position you would like to have.

Personal CV

Always create your CV in tabular form. Pay attention to a meaningful structure that allows a quick overview. Design all pages according to the same pattern (font size and typeface should match).

The CV contains the following information:

  • Photo by a professional photographer
  • Surname, first name, address, telephone, fax and e-mail address
  • Nationality with work permit or place of origin
  • civil status
  • Professional activities (starting with the last job with keywords for the function/task)
  • Training and further education (starting with the last training or further education)
  • Special knowledge to be highlighted (projects, IT skills, foreign language skills, management experience, etc.)
  • Non-professional interests (political commitment, youth work, hobbies)

Be sure to list all professional activities. If there are gaps in the CV, mistrust arises. If you were not employed for a certain period of time, it may be worth stating what you did in a meaningful way during this time (further education, stay abroad, housework, children, etc.).

job references

You must provide a copy of the relevant job reference for each job that you list in your CV. Please enclose the work references with the dossier in chronological order according to the list in the CV.

Diplomas and professional certificates

The same applies to diplomas and further training as to job references. Your dossier should draw attention to those training and further education courses that are important for the relevant position.

reference list

For your references, choose former superiors and/or clients who make a statement about the quality of your work. Give their coordinates briefly with full name, company and telephone number. It is advisable to obtain the consent of these persons shortly beforehand and to inform them. You also have the option of only naming the references when there is an interview.
